BEAR MOUNTAIN- The construction industry & the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention HudsonValley/Westchester Chapter will have a Hike for Hope on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Bear Mountain Park beginning at 9 a.m.

America’s hardworking construction professionals are vital to our nation’s future. Tragically, about five times as many construction workers lose their lives to suicide compared to the general population — one of the highest suicide rates among all  professions in the U.S.

After an incredible inaugural year in Florida, Construction Industry Leaders from across the country are helping to spread awareness in their states.

The HV/WC Chapter is lucky to have the support of Rockland County native Rob Labbe, from American Global, chairing the Hike for Hope.  This is an event meant to engage the community members & the construction industry on the importance of mental health & suicide prevention.

“Suicide touches one in five American families. We hope that by  connecting, we will draw attention to this issue and keep other families from experiencing  a suicide loss. Our goal is to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide.  The more we openly and directly talk about suicide, the more we can help to prevent it.” said Maria Idoni, AFSP HV/WC Area Director.

With over 50 leaders in the construction industry sponsoring the Hike, it is sure to be a well-attended event.
