POUGHKEEPSIE – Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a possible boy in the Hudson River Tuesday afternoon.  Poughkeepsie firefighters launched their newest vessel, Marine 2, with three firefighters aboard to investigate the reason for the call while additional personnel and an ambulance from Empress staged at the boat ramp at Waryas Park.

The crew made several passes between the Mid-Hudson Bridge and the Walkway Over the Hudson and did not locate any bodies or overturned boats in the area.  Crew teams were also rowing in the area and did not report seeing anything unusual floating amidst the springtime debris that travels down the Hudson River.

A Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant and a detective with the UAS (drone) unit also responded to the command post to consult with the fire department and offered to put the drone in the air to search the area.

The 911 call was determined to be one of “good intent” and the boat was brought to shore and returned to the firehouse.
