Mary Ellen DiRaffaele, a longtime resident of Mahopac, NY passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the age of 77. She was born in Jamaica, Queens, NY on December 16, 1946, the daughter of Walter and Mary (Snodgrass) Marvin.
Mary Ellen graduated from Massapequa High School. She retired from Three Lakes Management in Brewster, NY in 2023 where she worked as a property manager after 37 years of service.
Mary Ellen was an avid reader and a member of Read Hot Mamas book club. She was a member of the Friends of the Mahopac Library where she had served on the Board of Directors. While her children were growing up, she was a member of the Parent Teacher Association (Mahopac Public Schools) and was a Girl Scout Leader.
On May 31, 1969, she married Dennis DiRaffaele in Farmingdale, NY. In addition to Dennis, she is survived by her children, Leann Cook and her husband Matthew of Putnam Valley, NY and Matthew DiRaffaele of Newburgh, NY, her brother, Robert McDaniel and wife, Shirley of Farmingdale and her beloved granddaughters, Casey and Tara Stiller. She was predeceased by her brother, Butch Marvin.
Visiting will be held on Sunday, April 21 from 1-4 pm at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home, Mahopac. A Prayer Service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, April 22 at 10 am. Interment will follow at Union Valley Cemetery in Mahopac.
