HAMPTONBURGH – A worker at Twin View Stables Farm on Sarah Wells Trail was injured Wednesday morning when he was run over by a tractor he was operating. 34-year-old Patrick Davenport of Highland Lakes, NJ is currently listed in stable condition at Westchester Medical Center.
Troopers responded to the farm at 173 Sarah Wells Trail Wednesday at 10:21 a.m. and found the victim face down in the field. The farm hand was alert and conscious.
He stated that he had been riding the tractor as part of his employment at Twin Stables Farm. As he approached Gelding Field, Davenport says that he activated the tractor’s brakes and dismounted the tractor in order to open the gate to the horse pen. The victim says that he was run over by the tractor after climbing down from the machine. As a result of the collision, Davenport complained of pain in his torso including his stomach, back, and chest.
Campbell Hall Fire Captain Ballard stated that the tractor’s motor was running with the key in the ignition when he arrived at the emergency. The captain also stated that the brakes were activated because he had to release the brake in order to move the tractor. According to the captain, the rotary cutters were off. After moving the tractor, Ballard secured the vehicle by re-activating the brakes and shutting the power down.
