Two stabbings in three days in the Town of Poughkeepsie

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – Town police have released information on two separate stabbings that sent two victims to the hospital.

On November 14th at approximately 7:41 pm, police responded to a reported stabbing at 15 Vandewater Avenue.  Upon arrival, police learned that the 19-year-old victim had fled the scene in a vehicle.  Cops located the vehicle being operated by the victim in the City of Poughkeepsie.  Police stopped the victim and arranged for him to be transported to Mid-Hudson Regional hospital via ambulance.

As a result of the police investigation, 41-year-old Kevin Garret Sr. was arrested and charged with Assault in the second degree, a felony, and remanded to Dutchess County Jail without bail.

A second stabbing occurred on November 16th at approximately 4:19 pm.  In that incident, at the Mountainbrook Apartment Complex on Innis Avenue, police say a 17-year-old male was stabbed in the leg and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

In this instance, according to Lieutenant Shannon Rodriguez, the investigation resulted in the arrest of a 14-year-old male suspect from Hyde Park.  The juvenile was charged with Assault in the second degree, a felony, and issued an appearance ticket returnable in Dutchess County Family Court.  The juvenile was released to the custody of his parents.
