Teen charged with shooting 12-year-old with BB gun

TOWN OF DEERPARK – A 17-year-old youth has been charged with felony assault and misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child for allegedly shooting a 12-year-old in the leg with a BB gun.
The attack took place in the Cuddebackville area of Deerpark on March 9. The victim suffered two wounds to his leg. His condition was not immediately known.
On the evening of March 10, a Deerpark police officer was checking some
locations in the City of Port Jervis where the 17-year-old is known to
frequent when he was seen walking on Ball Street. With the assistance
of Port Jervis officers, the youth was taken into custody and a Daisy
brand BB pistol was recovered.
The name of the alleged assailant was not released because he may be eligible for youthful offender status.  He was sent to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash bail or $3,000 bond.
