TOWN OF MILAN – A New Windsor man was airlifted to Albany Medical Center with serious, but not believed to be life-threatening injuries following a two-car crash Wednesday morning on Route 199 in the Town of Milan.
The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office said a car driven by Steven
Destefano, 35, of New Windsor, was traveling east on Route 199 when he
crossed into the opposite lane of travel and struck a westbound car driven
by Andrew Pierce, 48, of Pine Plains. Destefano was ejected from his vehicle.
Pierce was transported by ambulance to MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie with minor injuries.
Both drivers were the only ones in their cars. Pierce was wearing a seatbelt; Destefano was not, police said.
The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the Milan Fire Department and Northern Dutchess Paramedics.
The sheriff’s office Crash Investigation Unit is investigating.
