Hudson Valley projects score big wins in adopted federal budget

WASHINGTON – Fifteen community projects totaling $29 million, proposed by Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney (D, NY-18), have been included in new federal government funding legislation.

That is the maximum number of projects allowed by the Appropriations Committee and includes expanding local healthcare options, repairs to major sewer systems, funding for public safety resources and more.

The full list of projects to receive funding in the 18th Congressional District is below.

  • $3,452,972 for the City of Middletown for Phase III of their Water Systems Improvement Project
  • $2,800,000 for Cornerstone Family Healthcare to upgrade the Grove Street FQHC facility
  • $2,125,000 for the County of Putnam for their Southeast Sewer Diversion Project
  • $600,000 for the Fishkill Police Department to acquire body cameras
  • $1,125,000 for SUNY Orange for their FoodTEC initiative, a workforce development program in the food service industry
  • $825,000 for Kiryas Joel to establish an Emergency Operations Center
  • $300,000 for the Middletown Police Department’s Security and Technology Initiative
  • $4,000,000 for the City of Newburgh to rebuild the Newburgh Landing Pier on the city’s waterfront
  • $500,000 for the Orange-Dutchess Transportation Access Mobility Study Project which will study improved transportation options from Stewart International Airport to cities in the Hudson Valley
  • $1,600,000 for the Storm King Welcome Center Conservation Facility Renovation
  • $2,000,000 for Sun River Health, to renovate and improve the Beacon Health Center
  • $1,650,000 for the Town of Cornwall for the Hasbrouck Area Drainage Project
  • $3,452,972 for the Town of Newburgh for Phase III of the Colden Park Watermain Replacement Project
  • $2,800,000 for the Town of Putnam Valley for a Potable Watermain and Treatment Plant Installation Project
  • $2,150,000 for the Youth Opportunity Union Infrastructure Enhancement Project in Poughkeepsie

 

The omnibus package also includes the Highlands Conservation Reauthorization Act that continues a land conservation program to protect the Highlands of New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Connecticut.
