Putnam Sheriff seeking witnesses to fatal crash in Putnam Valley

CARMEL – Putnam County Sheriff Kevin McConville and his department are investigating a crash that claimed the life of a 23-year-old Mahopac resident Tuesday night.  The crash occurred on September 27th just before 9 p.m. on Wood Street in Putnam Valley.

McConville said his agency responded at 8:55 p.m. to a report of a car crash on Wood Street near Meadow Crest Drive in Putnam Valley.  Deputies and Putnam Valley firefighters arrived on the scene and began extricating occupants of the two vehicles while providing medical assistance.
The driver of the first vehicle McConville said, was  23-year-old Bryan Tumolo of Mahopac.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the second vehicle, an 18-year-old Lake Peekskill man, and one of his two passengers, a 17-year-old female Putnam Valley resident, were airlifted to Westchester Medical Center with serious injuries. Another passenger, a 15-year-old girl from Putnam Valley, was transported by EMS to Westchester Medical Center.
Sheriff McConville said his agency’s preliminary investigation indicated that Tumolo was traveling northbound on Wood Street when he crossed over into the path of the other vehicle which was southbound.
The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit assisted Putnam County Sheriff’s deputies and investigators at the scene, assisted by officers from the Carmel Police Department.
