CHESTNUT RIDGE – Three men were arrested early Thursday morning as they were removing catalytic converters from school buses at the Chestnut Ridge Transportation facility.
Those devices, which are part of a vehicle’s exhaust system, are worth a lot of money as they are lined with platinum.
Ramapo Town Police, assisted by several other agencies, established a perimeter and conducted a search of the area where they found three men.
Two men, ages 22 and 23, from Yonkers and a 21-year-old from the Bronx were charged with four felonies – auto stripping, criminal mischief, grand larceny, and criminal possession of stolen property, as well as three misdemeanors – conspiracy, possession of burglar’s tools, and trespass.
The men whose names police did not make public, were released on their own recognizance pending a future court appearance.
