HUDSON VALLEY – Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney (D, NY-18) will not be in a primary with fellow Congressman Mondaire Jones (D, NY-17) because Jones has bowed out.
When the new Congressional district maps were approved on Friday, Maloney and Jones were drawn into the same district, a revised NY-17.
Jones has announced that he will be relocating and will run as a Democrat in the newly drawn NY-10, which represents portions of Brooklyn and Manhattan. He currently resides in Westchester County.
By running in the 10th District, Jones will likely face a Democratic Primary against candidates including former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio. The primary is scheduled for August 23rd.
