POUGHKEEPSIE – A social media threat has closed the Poughkeepsie Middle and High School for Monday, March 21. The announcement was made on Sunday evening.
Both Poughkeepsie Middle School and Poughkeepsie High School will be operating on a remote learning schedule due to the social media threat made against both schools.
Students and staff are expected to engage in remote learning using the one-hour delay schedule.
School Superintendent Dr. Eric Rosser said “Parents should check their child’s social media accounts and share any concerning material with law enforcement.”
The district said that the community should anticipate an update on Monday, March 21.
The school district has been forced to close both schools repeatedly for violence or threats of violence. Recently the five unions that represent all district employees united to call for changes to the safety policy for students and staff.
