CATSKILL – Following three days of deliberations, a Greene County Court jury found Carrie Weiser of Catskill guilty of murder. She was 32 at the time.

She was charged with killing Scott Myers, 68, by stabbing him in the neck with a knife on November 27, 2021.

The defense had suggested alternative theories as to what took place, including Myers committed suicide to Weiser was drugged and intoxicated and could not be held responsible for Myers death, and that she killed him in self- defense when he tried to rape her.

The jury worked through each of the elements of the crime and recognized that the prosecution, led by Assistant DA Jennifer Sandleitner, not only proved the charge of murder beyond a reasonable doubt, but also disproved beyond a reasonable doubt, each of defense counsel’s suggested defenses.

Weiser is expected to be sentenced in August.
