MIDDLETOWN – The reconstruction of the O&W Railway Station in Middletown is about to begin in earnest with the funding mechanism put in place.

The project is estimated to cost $6 million, and Mayor Joseph DeStefano said putting all of the financing together will commence soon.

“The bids are due back on April 30. We are now bonding the gap financing that is required before the tax credits,” he told the common council Tuesday night.

The fire-damaged shell of the historic building will be redeveloped for childcare facilities, offices and apartments.

Funding is coming from a combination of state and city sources.
