Neuhaus delivers his annual state of the county address from the stage at the county's 911 center

GOSHEN – Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus delivered a fast-paced 40-minute state of the county address Wednesday evening touching on everything from finances to economic development, safety and security, tourism, information technology and infrastructure.

The county executive said if you want something done, you should take a leadership role.

“John Mayer has a great song, ‘Waiting for the World to Change.’ We can no longer sit there and wait for the world to change. That’s why we need to take the leadership here. It’s going to start with the county, the Association of Counties, my department heads who are on the cutting edge of all the things they are in charge of,” he said.

Neuhaus did make one new announcement that with the retirement of county Social Service Commissioner Darcie Miller this coming summer, he will nominate 15-year county employee Lacey Trimble to replace her.
