NEW CITY – Town and federal officials have announced a multi-million-dollar plan to remediate flooding problems in the Jeffrey Court area of the Town of Clarkstown.

“These funds will meet a variety of needs across NY-17, ensuring clean drinking water for various localities, mitigating flooding in several neighborhoods, revitalizing downtown communities, providing critical resources for local law enforcement, and creating jobs right here in our district,” Congressman Michael Lawler said. “The funding to mitigate the flooding here in Jeffrey Court is an example of what we can accomplish when we put aside politics and focus on meeting the needs of our communities and constituents. That is, after all, why we’re all here.”

The announced $2.1 million in project funding for flood mitigation in the Jeffrey Court neighborhood of West Nyack in Clarkstown is aimed at correcting the frequent flooding, especially during major storms.

“Jeffrey Court is amongst the worst in terms of flooding in our entire town and it has been since I was a kid. These residents have had to put up with this for many, many years,” Supervisor Hoehmann said.
