Inmate at Otisville federal prison charged with murdering fellow inmate

WHITE PLAINS – An inmate at the Otisville Federal Correctional Institute has been charged with murder for killing another inmate at the facility on October 26, 2021.

Daniel Smith is alleged to have killed Patrick Deck.

Smith, 63, was charged with murder which carries a maximum sentence of death.

The case is being handled by the US Attrney’s White Plains Office.

Authorities did not provide a motive for the killing.
