GOSHEN – A 25-year-old Pine Bush man pled guilty in Orange County Court on Wednesday to attempted criminal possession of a weapon following a Middletown gun incident.

Cameron Leath is expected to face a five-year prison sentence when he returns to court in June.

It was alleged that on January 27, Middletown Police were dispatched to a warming station in the city for a report of a fight involving a man who was seen with a gun the night before.

Police found Leath, who matched the description of the man involved in the fight. He admitted to getting into a verbal argument but denied possessing any weapons.

The police recovered a loaded gun from a jacket on a chair at the warming station. Surveillance video from before the officers arrived showed Leath wearing the jacket.

At the plea proceedings, Leath admitted to attempting to illegally possess the loaded firearm.
