Mid-Hudson News accepts Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:

Senator Bill Weber recently published a guest column in the Mid Hudson News opposing the NY HEAT Act and the “Affordable” Gas Transition Act which would raise our utility bills by more than 6 percent and impose $20-50,000 in conversion costs per household as they are forced to use all electric heat.  I couldn’t agree more with the Senator’s opposition.

He said it best, “the last thing we need is a heavy-handed Legislature and Governor egged on by out of touch activists imposing a one-size fits all approach.”  All too often it seems like the proposals coming out of Albany are dreamt up by people who do not live in the real world and pay bills like the rest of us.  Unfortunately, even less often we see politicians with the courage to speak out against these ideas.  I’m proud to have a representative like Senator Weber in Albany fighting for what is right and making sure we don’t make NYS even more unaffordable.  If everyone in government thought like him and took action, New York State would be a much better place.
