Sullivan County job growth highest in region

ALBANY – February job growth in Sullivan County topped all other area counties with a 5.2 percent increase, the State Labor Department reported on Thursday.

Regionwide, there was a one percent increase in new jobs year-over-year.

Greene County was second with 4.8 percent new jobs while Ulster County came in third with 2.7 percent job growth.

Employment gains in the Hudson Valley in February were largest in private education and health services at 7,800, followed by leisure and hospitality at 5,100, and financial activities at 1,300.

Job losses were greatest in mining, logging and construction at 2,100, and trade, transportation and utilities at 1,700.
