PORT JERVIS – The Rumshock Veterans Village project in Port Jervis will move forward in the months ahead as Congressman Pat Ryan (D, NY-18) secured $1 million to bring it closer to reality.

The congressman will formally announce the grant this weekend. The money will be used to build 10 tiny homes for veterans on land that local developer and veterans supporter Bill Whetsel owns in the city.

Veteran homelessness, suicides and support outreach are national concerns and Port Jervis Councilman Stan Siegel, who is the veterans’ representative, brought the idea to Whetsel’s attention and assisted in moving it through the planning processes.
