CITY OF HUDSON – A 54-year-old City of Hudson man is in the Columbia County Jail without bail on charges of attempted murder, kidnapping, strangulation, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal contempt, all as felonies for allegedly attacking his former girlfriend.

City of Hudson Police and the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office investigated the incident that occurred just before 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 14.

According to the victim’s account, she was smoking a cigarette on her back deck when her ex-boyfriend, Orlando Williams, against whom she had an active order of protection, surprised her. Forcibly grabbed her, covered her mouth to keep her from screaming, and dragged her down a path to a wooded area behind the old JLE School, where he threatened to kill; her. During the ordeal, he attempted to stab and choke her.

The victim’s current boyfriend called 911 and intervened, enabling her to escape. She sustained minor injuries and declined medical attention.

Williams fled before police arrived, but the following day, State Police located and detained him in Greene County until he was transferred to Columbia County.
