Dutchess County bus strikes cyclist in Poughkeepsie

Firefighters and EMS triaging the man before taking him to the hospital.

POUGHKEEPSIE – City fire and police, along with Empress EMS responded to the corner of Main and Academy Streets to treat a man who had been struck by a Dutchess County Transit bus just before 7:00 am on Tuesday.  Prior to the arrival of first responders, the bus driver was observed trying to comfort the man who was semi-conscious on the pavement on Academy Street.

Firefighters and EMS triaged the victim at the scene and he was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.

City of Poughkeepsie police were interviewing the bus driver and the investigation is ongoing.
