NEW YORK-  New York’s Presidential primary election is set for April 2 with early voting beginning on March 23.

In order to vote in the upcoming primary, voters must be registered by March 23.  New York is a closed primary state, which means that a voter also must be enrolled as a member of a party to vote in that party’s primary.  To register to vote, individuals should contact their county board of elections.

Voters can cast their ballot early by absentee ballot, early in person, or in person on primary election day.  To apply for an absentee ballot, visit the state board of elections website at least ten days before the primary.  Absentee ballots need to be received by the local county board of elections no later than April 9.

Republicans voters will have the choice of  voting for Donald Trump, Vivek Ramaswamy, Chris Christie, or Nikki Haley.

Democratic voters will have the option of casting a ballot for Joe Biden, Dean Phillips, or Marianne Williamson.

Candidates who have suspended their campaigns are still required by law to appear on the ballot.  Primary elections for United State Senate, the House of Representatives, state, and local offices will be held on June 25.
