KINGSTON- In anticipation of tidal flooding along the waterfront throughout the weekend, changes have been made to the City of Kingston’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade route to steer clear of the waterfront.  Heavy rains are in the forecast and flooding is expected early Saturday at high-tide and mid-day on Sunday.

“We are tracking the potential for tidal flooding to impact the waterfront area throughout the weekend,” said Kingston City Mayor Steve Noble.  “City officials have worked with the St. Patrick’s Day Parade organizers to alter the parade route slightly to avoid any vehicles moving through standing water and to ensure the safety of all.”

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade will proceed down Broadway on Sunday beginning at 1:00 pm, as planned, but will end at Abeel Street.  All floats and vehicles will make a right onto Abeel Street and proceed away from the waterfront.  No vehicles will be allowed past Abeel Street during the festivities.

There will also be special parking restrictions and road closures in place for Sunday due to the parade.
