NEWBURGH- Newburgh resident Carol Johnson-Cromer has joined the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer (MSABC) of the Hudson Valley as a 2024 ambassador.

“I want to inspire the spirit of hope for all participants at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk,” said Carol Johnson-Cromer, a Newburgh educator for 27 years and a three-time breast cancer survivor.  Johnson-Cromer has been participating in the MSABC of the Hudson Valley for 22 years and walks with three teams:  a knockout breast cancer team called Mother and Son MSABC, NTA (Newburgh Teachers’ Association) MSABC Team, and Mid-Hudson Valley Alumnae Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

Local leaders will join Carol Johnson-Cromer in supporting the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer  efforts at the annual MSABC kickoff breakfast on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024, and at the 30th annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of the Hudson Valley presented by Garnet Health on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Woodbury Common.  MSABC is a celebration of courage and hope, and a movement that unites communities to end breast cancer as we know it, for everyone.

“It’s such an honor to have Carol Johnson-Cromer as our 2024 Ambassador helping us educate and spread the word about cancer screenings,” said Kristi Greco, senior development manager, American Cancer Society.  “Together, we will make a difference at our kickoff and amazing 2024 Strides event showing our Hudson Valley community and our survivors and thrivers that they don’t walk alone!”

Over the past three decades, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer’s 3- to 5-mile walks have collectively grown into the nation’s largest and most impactful breast cancer movement – providing a supportive community for survivors, caregivers and families alike.  Making Strides Against Breast Cancer funds lifesaving breast cancer research and is committed to advancing health equity through essential programs and services.
