Compared to other instruments, the Double Bass is one of the oldest in Western Classical Music having remained largely in its original form since the 16th century. The glass ceiling of technical limitations was shattered by many virtuosic masters of the instrument and the progress has continued through this day with a plethora of brilliant musicians making amazing strides in the progress of the double bass. Join SCCO Artistic Director Andrew Trombley as he explores the progress of the Double Bass through a series of original transcriptions showcasing the abilities of the instrument through a wide-ranging repertoire of western classical music.

SCCO is a Nesin Cultural Arts supported project. Programs are made possible in part by funding from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Kathleen Courtney Hochul and the NY State Legislature, Episcopal Charities, Cornelia T. Bailey Foundation, Laura Jane Musser Fund, Sullivan County Legislature, Sullivan County Youth Bureau, M&T Charitable Foundation, Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, NY Life Foundation, Walmart Community Foundation and Stewart’s Shoppes.
