HUDSON – Long-time State Assemblywoman Didi Barrett (D, Hudson) will face a Democratic challenger in a June 25 primary election.

Claire Cousin, a City of Hudson representative on the Columbia County Board of Supervisors, said she wants to represent the working-class residents of the rural county in the 106th Assembly District.

“I’m running to be an organizer in office, who will work with people inside and outside of Albany to pass transformative legislation on housing, climate and education,” she said. “I am a working-class person, a tenant, a local legislator, I’m a mother of three kids who live in this district and who are growing up in this district.”

A former home care worker, Cousin said she supports fair pay for home care and will support the New York Health Act.
