WHITE PLAINS – Two Mount Vernon men have been arrested on federal charges in connection with an armed robbery in the City of Newburgh.

Authorities said Recaldo Fray, 31, a corrections officer at the Westchester County Jail in Valhalla, allegedly committed an armed robbery in Newburgh and later returned to that city to intimidate the victim.

Fray is being held without bail.

Another man, Kaheem Palmer, also 31, was later arrested and charged with committing the robbery with Fray. He was also detained without bail.

As alleged in the federal charges, on December 4, 2023, Fray and Palmer forced entry into a residence in Newburgh where they restrained two victims at gunpoint and stole items of value, including a large amount of marijuana and some $4,500 in cash.

Fray then returned to the same home on December 16 and attempted to intimidate a victim.

If convicted, each suspect could be sentenced to up to 20 years in federal prison.
