The Putnam County Courthouse has gone blue.

PATTERSON- Laura Russo is seeking to replace retiring Legislator Ginny Nacerino this November for Putnam County Legislator from the 4th district representing the Town of Patterson.  Russo, a Republican, has the support of the Patterson Republican Committee as well as several high-profile elected Republicans like County Executive Kevin Byrne and Assemblyman Matt Slater.

Russo has lived in Patterson for nearly 18 years and is a longtime member of the Putnam Lake Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, the Putnam County Volunteer Fireman’s Association Ladies Auxiliary, and Chair of the Putnam Lake Park District Advisory Board.

“I am honored to announce my candidacy for Putnam County Legislator, representing the Town of Patterson,” said Russo.  “Having been a resident for almost 18 years, I am deeply connected to the needs and aspirations of our community.  I believe we need to improve opportunities for economic growth by reducing the tax burden and working to attract new businesses to our community.”

Russo’s candidacy comes as Nacerino, a Republican who has represented the district for 12 years and served for a portion of that time as Chairwoman of the legislature, decided not to seek reelection.

No Democrat has yet come forward to announce a run for the seat.
