CARMEL- Three of Putnam County Executive Kevin Byrne’s proposed policies were recognized by Americans for Tax Reform, a national organization dedicated to fiscal conservatives and taxpayer advocacy founded in 1985 by Grover Norquist at the request of President Ronald Reagan.

The three model policies, the Taxpayer Transparency Act, the Local Taxpayer Protection Act, and the Savings Incentive Partnership Program, aim to increase efficiency, transparency, and accountability in county governments.

Each of the three concepts previously proposed by Byrne have been adopted as model policies by the American Legislative Exchange Council.

“It’s exciting and extremely encouraging to see that the ideas this Administration is actively working towards in Putnam County are now being promulgated beyond our community,” said Byrne.  “Making government more affordable, accountable, and accessible will always be on the forefront of my mind, and if there’s an appetite for other municipalities to embrace that, even better.”
