To the Editor,

When we elect our neighbors to serve us, we do so expecting that they’ll act in good faith and show respect for those they represent.

So, I was angered to read a recent Facebook comment in which Dorey Houle, a sitting Monroe town councilwoman and candidate for State Senate, affirmed that Orange County voters – her constituents – were ‘idiots.’  In response to a mean-spirited complaint on Facebook accusing voters of being “idiots” who “keep re-electing the same a**holes,” Ms. Houle commented, “no truer words…”

This kind of talk not only feeds into our political moment, but it shows disrespect for the very people Ms. Houle says she’s eager to serve.

So, what’s your purpose, Ms. Houle? Are you hoping Orange County voters will fall for your untruths

Personally, I’ll be throwing my vote to the candidate who consistently stands up for me and my
neighbors:  Senator Skoufis.  We’re no idiots.
