Mid-Hudson News accepts Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor,

POW’R Against Tobacco would like to congratulate the City of Middletown for having a proactive approach to protecting young people in the community.  The recently adopted law, mandating tobacco and vape retailers to be licensed is a major step in the right direction to keeping dangerous products out of the hands of minors.

While flavored vape products were banned in the state of New York in 2020, young people continue to acquire and consume the hazardous products.   Through the strengthened regulations on tobacco retailers within the city, we hope to see a decline in smoking and vaping for young people under the age of 21.

Congratulations again to legislators from the City of Middletown on their continuous efforts to prevent the negative impact of tobacco and vape products on youth.
