HURLEY- Used clothing dropped off in the shed at the Town of Hurley Transfer Station last year totaled 16,544 pounds, according to St. Pauly Textile Inc., a Western New York company that repurposes items brought to its sheds in the Northeast and Northwest.

St. Pauly said the donations in Hurley in 2023 were sufficient to clothe 3,048 people worldwide.  It also said Hurley received $662 based on the volume of clothing dropped off at the Dug Hill Road site.

Items accepted at St. Pauly drop-off sheds include used clothing, shoes, sneakers, belts, purses, linens, pillowcases, blankets, curtains and stuffed animals.  Pillows, rags and fabric scraps are not accepted.

The Hurley Transfer Station is at 1043 Dug Hill Road.  It operates from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
