WASHINGTON – For years New York politicians have complained that New York sends far more in taxes and fees than it gets back from Washington.

That has changed in recent years, Senator Charles Schumer said on Tuesday.

“Senator Moynihan used to decry the fact that New York always sent more money to Washington than it got back. But these last two years, for the first time in history, because of my role as majority leader, but also because of my role of visiting every county, New York got back more money than we sent,” he said.

Every year, Schumer makes a point of visiting all 62 counties in the state at least once every year and 2023 was no exception.
