MONTICELLO – Congressman Marcus Molinaro (R, NY-19) addressed the Sullivan County Substance Use Task Force on Friday telling them that the Dutchess County substance abuse stabilization center he created is the way to tackle the drug use problem.

He told the task force comprised of county officials and representatives of advocacy organizations Sullivan should work toward that goal.

“I think there is no better tool than a community-based stabilization center for response and assistance for individuals living with substance use disorder and the co-occurring diagnoses that often exist,” he said.

He pledged to work with State Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther (D, Forestburgh) to find solutions to the substance use epidemic plaguing Sullivan.

Gunther, for her part, outlined several pieces of legislation she is pushing in Albany, including a ban on pill presses drug dealers use to manufacture counterfeit tablets to look like the real thing, but contain narcotics.
