POUGHKEEPSIE – Police are investigating a Friday evening shooting in Poughkeepsie’s north side that wounded one man. The incident occurred near Weed and Smith Streets at approximately 7:40 p.m. on December 8.
City police, fire, and EMS responded to the intersection and located a conscious male victim with a gunshot wound to his leg. He was triaged by firefighters for transport to a local hospital by Empress EMS for his non-life-threatening injury.
Uniformed officers and detectives canvassed the area for evidence and interviewed people in the neighborhood.
City of Poughkeepsie Police Officer Williams and his new K9 partner Liva began tracking a potential suspect from the intersection heading north on Smith Street near the housing projects commonly referred to as “The Bricks”. The result of the search was not readily available on Friday night.
