GOSHEN —  A Newburgh man was convicted in Orange County Court on Monday of burglary and criminal mischief for allegedly breaking into a relative’s Newburgh home and threatening her with a machete.

Angel Lahoz, 35, was remanded to the Orange County Jail without bail following the jury verdict.

He faces 15 years in state prison when sentenced in February 2024.

It was alleged in court that Lahoz dropped the weapon leaving an opening for the victim to call the police. Her husband and brother arrived and Lahoz was taken into custody.

It was later determined that Lahoz broke into the home by smashing a bedroom window.
