NEW CITY – A Bardonia man has been indicted by a Rockland County grand jury on charges of grand larceny, falsifying business records and issuing a bad check, District Attorney Thomas Walsh II announced.
He said over a period of four months, Michael Bookman, 40, is accused of stealing over $7,000 from a political campaign committee while acting as campaign manager.
Walsh said more than four months after the bank closed the campaign account due to insufficient funds, Bookman wrote a check to the candidate for a loan repayment purporting to represent the balance in the campaign account.
Bookman was arraigned and released on his own recognizance.
