POUGHKEEPSIE- On the occasion of its 40th Anniversary, the Mediation Center of Dutchess County, Poughkeepsie, NY will honor five “Unsung Dutchess County Heroes,” our NYS Court Officers. The celebration will take place on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. during MCDC’s Reception & Awards Ceremony with guest host Hon. Albert M. Rosenblatt. The event will take place at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel located at 40 Civic Center Plaza, Poughkeepsie.
The Mediation Center of Dutchess County (MCDC) provides and promotes conflict prevention, management, resolution services and education for individuals, families, businesses and organizations in Dutchess County. MCDC trains volunteers to become mediators in the transformative framework of conflict intervention.
Leanne Lawson, MCDC’s Executive Director said, “each year volunteers facilitate more than 90% of mediation cases, guiding thousands of individuals through conflict resolution. We are excited to share 40 years of accomplishments with the community and highlight the many years of contribution to MCDC’s mission from the NYS Court Officers“.
MCDC’s volunteer mediators and MCDC’s mediation process benefit from the support of NYS Court Officers who are an integral part of our success. These dedicated professionals are the unsung heroes of our mission to actively engage all community members through dispute resolution tools when facing conflict.
NYS Court Officer Rowell Williams, Poughkeepsie City Court states that he “is honored to be recognized with the 2023 NYS Court Officer’s Award by the Mediation Center of Dutchess County.”
The MCDC is the official center of the NYS Unified Court System’s Office of Alternative Dispute Resolution and Court Improvement Programs in Dutchess County.
