YONKERS- Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano is seeking an unprecedented fourth term in office following a win in the June Democratic primary, where he beat Councilwoman Corazon Pineda-Isaac.  Spano is set to face Republican Councilman Anthony Merante in this November’s general election.

Spano is touting his record in his first three terms in office.  Among his accomplishments are improvements in education, crime reduction, and, urban development.

Merante recently took to social media, releasing a video that scrutinized Spano’s stance on bail reform. One prominent issue raised in the video was the recent release of an individual who had assaulted a Yonkers police officer, causing a broken nose.  The release occurred without bail, fueling concerns about the efficacy of cashless bail.

If reelected, Spano would be the first mayor in the city’s history to be elected to a fourth term.
