BEACON- Beacon’s Howland Public Library has received a $15,000 grant, secured by Assembly Member Jonathan Jacobson (D, Newburgh), that will be used for the purchase of ADA compliant desks.

“The Howland Public Library is located in the heart of the City’s Main Street in a former five-and-dime building, so the staff has to be creative about how to arrange the space to serve the needs of Beacon’s vibrant community,” said Jacobson.  “Their old desks were designed for a pre-digital area and lacked adequate space for computer terminals.  The new ADA compliant desks are bigger but also on wheels, which makes them easier to move.”

Kristin Charles-Scaringi, acting library director said, “We are incredibly grateful to Assembly member Jacobson for securing funding for our new desks.  Our staff can continue to provide great service to those who visit the library, now in a more accessible and adaptable way.”
