POUGHKEEPSIE – Two well-known antagonists that spend their time in the City and Town of Poughkeepsie, harassing, intimidating, and scaring passersby reunited to perform their attention-seeking routine at the corner of Main and Market Streets on Friday afternoon.  Several motorists and pedestrians were subjected to one or both men getting as close to people as possible and giving them the middle finger while yelling about their right to free speech.

At least one offended member of society called the police to report the aggressive behavior.  In addition to their single-digit salutes, the duo repeatedly yelled obscenities at passing motorists, resulting in several vehicles stopping in the middle of the road with the operator offering to repay them for the cursing by repaying them with bodily harm.

Sears is better known as the individual who walks around with a large hourglass with a mask of the comic book character, “The Joker”.  He has also been known to dress as the Grim Reaper.  He has a tendency to walk into traffic at major intersections on Route 9, which typically results in an encounter with police.

Meyer is an antagonist who encourages law enforcement to arrest him.  He is more than willing to profess, in a loud voice, that he is well-versed in his Constitutional Rights and is allowed to behave the way he does.  Friday’s display of his rights included telling the City of Poughkeepsie officer to “take a walk” while displaying his middle finger prominently.  A passerby warned Meyer that he could get hurt, and the pedaling professor replied “First Amendment – if you don’t like it you can go to China.”

Sears had already had an encounter with a Town of Poughkeepsie police officer on Friday before bringing his antics to the city.  When an officer with the city arrived at the intersection and asked the two to “move it along” or risk being charged with disorderly conduct, the legal scholar and his protege began a profanity-laced attack directed at the officer, the sum of which was a demand for the cop to “Get the fu@k down the road.”

Seeming to have achieved the desired result, namely the attention of the police, the two packed up their act within minutes of the officer proceeding east on Main Street.  Several bystanders who were at or near the intersection applauded their decision.

Profanity-laced video of the two self-proclaimed Constitutional Law experts filmed on Friday afternoon.  WARNING:  The video contains several profane and/or obscene words and gestures.
