Westchester Executive George Latimer delivers annual address

WHITE PLAINS – Westchester County Executive George Latimer delivered his annual state of the county address to the Board of Legislators Thursday evening enumerating a list of accomplishments achieved since he took office 5 ½ years ago.

The Democratic former county legislator and state senator said Westchester finds itself in a strong place despite national and international issues.

“So, you may ask, what is the state of our county. Is it fierce? Is it united? Or is it thriving? It’s all of those things because the state of our county is one of unyielding strength, unwavering resolve, and most crucially, boundless potential,” he said.

Latimer pointed to four years of lower property taxes, support for asylum seekers who are looking for a better life, additional affordable housing, a decline in the crime rate, Narcan training coming for all county employees, an accelerator for business startups, improvements to parks, and additional charging stations for electric vehicles.
