GOSHEN – Two men were in Orange County Court facing charges of rape of a minor.

“There is no adequate response to such behavior short of incarceration for the longest terms possible,” said District Attorney David Hoovler.

“Both this plea and this sentence should send a clear message that in Orange County we take this very seriously, and if necessary, we will proceed to trial, we will do everything in our power to hold these individuals accountable that are taking advantage of our minor youth,” he said.

In one case before the court, Patrick Lynch, 44, of Bethel, Connecticut, pled guilty to course of sexual conduct against a child. Under a plea agreement, prosecutors will recommend that he be sentenced to 20 years in state prison and 20 years of post-release supervision when sentenced in September. He will also register as a sex offender.

In the other case, Eric Vazquez, 32, of Newburgh was sentenced to 15 years in prison and 10 years of post-release supervision on charges of rape and criminal sexual act. He, too, must register as a sex offender.
