LIBERTY- Radio Catskill, public radio for the Catskills and Northeast Pennsylvania, announced a new daytime programming schedule which expands local news coverage to weekday mornings and adds new national and global news programs beginning July 3, 2023.

Highlighting the changes, local news talk show Radio Chatskill expands from a weekly broadcast to daily—Monday through Friday at 10:00 a.m.—showcasing more community news and information five days a week.

“Last month, our Community Advisory Board asked listeners to tell us how we’re doing via their annual survey. Hundreds of folks participated and one thing became clear:  they want more local news,” said Radio Catskill General Manager Tim Bruno.  “We listened, and this commitment to local news aligns with  the interests of our listeners, our mission, and our strategic planning.  Now, we’ll be broadcasting more local news than ever before, while deepening our roots in the community and strengthening our listeners’ experience.”

Radio Catskill will also expand national and global news offerings weekdays with the addition of critically acclaimed programs On Point (11:00 a.m.), The World (3:00 p.m.), and The Daily (6:30 p.m.).  The Local Edition, the award-winning local news program, moves to 6:000 p.m. weekdays.  Other highlights include the addition of Freakonomics (Tuesday, 1:00 p.m.) and Radiolab (Wednesday, 1:00 p.m.) and new time slots for Democracy Now! (Weekdays, Noon), Fresh Air (Monday -Thursday, 2:00 p.m.) and The TED Radio Hour (Friday, 1:00 p.m.).  There are new offerings on the weekends as well, such as The New Yorker Radio Hour, and Living Jazz.
