Dear Editor,

For the past fourteen years, I’ve been a tenant at the Stony Run Apartments.  But with each passing year, Kingston becomes more unaffordable for residents like me.

That’s why we need to elect my friend and neighbor Charlotte Lloyd, who is running in next week’s Democratic primary to represent Ward 1 on the Common Council.

Charlotte is a member of the Stony Run Tenants Union who is well on her way to becoming our city’s youngest alderwoman.  She is a refreshing face who brings new energy and personal experiences that are representative of her generation and the community at-large.

Charlotte’s story is Kingston’s story:  She is a lifelong resident who graduated from Kingston High School, worked for the school district during COVID, and volunteered with animals at the Ulster County SPCA.

Charlotte now works three jobs, including as an Adams’ cashier and a DoorDash driver.  But, like so many other people her age, she still pays 60% of her income towards rent.

Charlotte is not tainted by political power plays.  As a former elected official, I appreciate that she is taking a grassroots approach to her campaign, knocking on thousands of doors and collecting over a hundred signatures to get on the ballot.

For all these reasons, Charlotte is the ONLY candidate endorsed by the Stony Run Tenants Union.  I hope you’ll join me in voting for her on June 27th.
