NANUET – Democratic former State Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick is seeking re-election to the 38th District Senate seat he held from 2021 to 2022.

He defeated Republican Bill Weber in 2020 but lost in a rematch in 2022.

Now, Reichlin-Melnick plans to face off against Weber in the 2024 general election.

The former lawmaker said since he lost the last election, countless Rockland County residents have urged him to run again, “and with so many critical issues facing our communities, it’s clear Rockland needs a senator who can deliver results, not just rhetoric.”

Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins (D, Yonkers) said Reichlin-Melnick “was a valued member of our conference who got impressive results for people in Rockland County. I’m looking forward to welcoming him back to the Senate after the 2024 election.”
