KINGSTON – Ulster County district attorney candidate Michael Kavanagh, who is running on the Republican line in this fall’s election, has secured a second line with the Libertarian Party.

Kavanagh is not enrolled in any political party “because I strongly believe that the district attorney should not be involved in partisan politics,” he said.

His effort to gain the second ballot line garnered over 1,700 signatures; he needed a minimum of 1,500 signatures. To run as a Democrat or Republican, a candidate needs at least 1,000 petition signatures.

Kavanagh will be running against Assistant DA Emmanuel Nneji.
