PORT JERVIS – A Port Jervis woman was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center as a result of a fire that occurred in her home at 80 Kingston Avenue Thursday morning. An update on this victim’s condition was not immediately available. No other individuals were reported injured as result of the fire.

Responders were dispatched to the blaze just after 10:30 a.m. Multiple phone calls had reported smoke and flames coming from the single-family home.

Although the fire was quickly contained and seemed initially under control, it took additional time to extinguish flames that extended into the roofline of the house and to a rear addition.

All Port Jervis units were on scene, along with neighboring units, and firefighters remained on scene into early afternoon completing overhaul.

A K-9 unit was called in for a time as part of what Port Jervis Fire Chief Keith Brown said is part of a full investigation that goes into every fire.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
